Luttinger liquid coupled to Ohmic-class environments

چکیده

We investigate the impact of an Ohmic-class environment on conduction and correlation properties one-dimensional interacting systems. Interestingly, we reveal that inter-particle interactions can be engineered by environment's noise statistics. Introducing a backscattering impurity to system, address Kane-Fisher's metal-to-insulator quantum phase transition in this noisy realistic setting. Within perturbative renormalization group approach, show Ohmic environments keep intact, while sub- super-Ohmic environments, modify it into smooth crossover at scale depends interaction strength within wire. The system still undergoes metal-to-insulator-like when moving from sub-Ohmic noise. cover broad range experimental conditions, exploring finite wire length temperature transport through system.

Sliding Luttinger liquid phases

We study systems of coupled spin-gapped and gapless Luttinger liquids. First, we establish the existence of a sliding Luttinger liquid phase for a system of weakly coupled parallel quantum wires, with and without disorder. It is shown that the coupling can stabilize a Luttinger liquid phase in the presence of disorder. We then extend our analysis to a system of crossed Luttinger liquids and est...

Duality of weak and strong scatterer in a Luttinger liquid coupled to massless bosons.

We study electronic transport in a Luttinger liquid with an embedded impurity, which is either a weak scatterer (WS) or a weak link (WL), when interacting electrons are coupled to one-dimensional massless bosons (e.g., acoustic phonons). We find that the duality relation, ΔWSΔWL=1, between scaling dimensions of the electron backscattering in the WS and WL limits, established for the standard Lu...

Mobility and diffusion of a particle coupled to a Luttinger liquid.

We study the mobility of a particle coupled to a one dimensional interacting fermionic system, a Luttinger liquid. We bosonize the Luttinger liquid and find the effective interaction between the particle and the bosonic system. We show that the dynamics of this system is completely equivalent to the acoustic polaron problem where the interaction has purely electronic origin. This problem has a ...

Occupation of a resonant level coupled to a chiral Luttinger liquid.

We consider a resonant level coupled to a chiral Luttinger liquid which can be realized, e.g., at a fractional quantum Hall edge. We study the dependence of the occupation probability n of the level on its energy epsilon for various values of the Luttinger-liquid parameter g. At g<1/2, a weakly coupled level shows a sharp jump in n(epsilon) at the Fermi level. As the coupling is increased, the ...
